The problem that most people have with a small bathroom is the lack of space, now we can’t magically add another 30ft of space but what we can do is make the best of the space that you have. This is done with practical storage and by creating the illusion of space.
Smart furniture choices
When you have little space you have to make the most out of it with smart furniture choices. This could be something as simple as combining the toilet and vanity unit or fitting the shower and bathtub into one.
You should also look at your current storage solutions and access if they are good enough for your needs. If not you can add more storage to your bathroom. Look out for vanity units with inbuilt storage. Towel rails that can be used to hold more towels or ottomans that fit with the theme of your bathroom.
Hanging wall mirrors with builtin storage are also excellent additions to your bathroom and can declutter the bathroom.
Get rid of clutter and furniture that’s too big
It goes without saying. The furniture in your room has to fit. If it doesn’t get rid of it or put it into storage for the future.
Bathrooms can sometimes have awkward spaces that have to be accommodated for. If you can’t change the layout of your bathroom try to pick furniture or fittings that will make the most of your space.
Be clever with the tiles or paint that you pick
The amount of space in your room isn’t the same as what your eye can see. We can trick our brains into thinking we have more space than there is by being smart with the choice of tiles or paint. By tiling your floor and walls in the same pattern you are tricking your eyes by not giving them a clear boundary. This makes it hard to see where one starts and one finishes making the whole room look bigger than it is.
Add mirrors for more space
Mirrors reflect the light back in a room and can create the illusion of more space. Just like tricking our eyes with paint or tiles the mirror does the same effect. The larger the mirror the larger the illusion.
This trick is often used in restaurants to make them look more open than they are.
